Hello! Today I wanted to share two scriptures. The first is Matthew, chapter 4 verse 19, which reads:
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
The second, is Mark, chapter 8 verse 34, which says:
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
There is a specific word in these that stands out to me, that is that in both instances, Jesus asks us to follow Him. He doesn’t just say “come stand here and you will be blessed” or anything else that is a “do it once and you are good” style of commandment. Instead, He asks us to follow him. By saying this, He illustrates the fact that in order for us to receive the wonderful blessings He has waiting for us, we must continue to progress and strive to become more like Him. By following Him, we are showing a real commitment to Him and His commandments, and when we do this, we can find more joy in life, see more miracles, better appreciate God’s hand in our lives, and be blessed beyond our imagination. I promise that as we try to follow Him just a little bit more every day, we will experience these blessings in our lives. We will find the comfort and joy that comes from being with Him.
Have a great week!
