Missionary Moment 28: Everybody’s Hero

Hello! This Sunday was fathers day! In honor of that, I’d like to talk a bit about what makes the father figures of my life so valuable to me.

Mothers and Fathers are who I believe to be some of the most important people in the world. And I’m not just talking about my genetic parents. Everyone needs a good role model in life. For me, I have grown up idolizing my parents. I have wanted to be just like my dad ever since I was little. I wanted to be as tall as him, I wanted to have glasses like his, I wanted to work like him, I wanted to be a dentist like him, I wanted to be a dad like him. Griwing up, my dad was bigger than life. Better than any superhero in the book. I still try my best to be like him. He is my hero.

The best part is, we each have a father in heaven. And, just like our earthly heroes, we can strive to be like Him. He loves and cherishes us. He laughs and has fun with us. He cries with, and comforts us. He listens to, and answers us. He helps and guides us. He is there for us. He is our father. I think it is so inspiring that of all the titles God could choose, he choose to be called father. Just like our fathers and heroes on earth, He wants us to become more, to grow and become like Him.

In Matthew chapter 7, verse 11, it says:

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

Our heavenly father loves us so much. If you look, you really will see His love. You will see just how much He can be a hero for you. Thank you so much to all the fathers and father figures out there! Have a great week!
